“Any minute now my ship is coming in…”

Dateline: After weigh-in Three Rivers Stadium. 1993.

49’ers vs Steelers.

Steelers win the toss, kick off, ball sails into the 49’ers end zone.

I’m standing on the sidelines, right close to the Steelers bench, about as close as you can get, at the time I’m working at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, a couple of weeks away from taking the job offer from ESPN. >>> read more

Elite Series Event #2, St. John's River, Florida

Rapsody Rods: Tell us how your practice went?
Joe Sancho: To be honest it was slower than I expected. Day One of practice was an absolute torrential downpour all day long. Torrential!! Although under the overcast skies I was able to catch some decent spinnerbait fish on the outside edges of eel grass. Day Two started out overcast; but then became bright in the afternoon. Once that happened I started looking for beds. I found hundreds of bass in Lake George moving up or spawning. The last day of practice, I wanted to search for something nearby to fall back on. Unfortunately I never got on anything else productive.

Rapsody Rods: So Joe Sancho, what did you think about your first elite series event?
Joe Sancho: It was absolutely awesome experience. Obviously I wanted to have done better, but I knew going into this that there was going to be a learning curve.

When you first meet Bassmaster Elite Series Rookie Joe Sancho, you can’t help but think this guy belongs in professional wrestling.  Get to know him and you realize Joe is too nice a guy to ever smash an unsuspecting competitor over the back with a nearby and conveniently placed folding chair.

Describing the day, Cusano wrote:

"Lots of fun as always being on the water with the Big Dog. I got to enjoy some time on the back deck and just sit back and focus on the fishing (You guys who don't like being non-boaters are nutty!!) >>> read more
